Unhappy Question

I was out last night climbing a gravel hill and started to get some wheel hop and all of a sudden bang. When I goto put the truck in park it grinds and wont go into any gears. I'm tried 4hi,4lo,2hi and nothing. It wont even go into park. Is that the transfer case?

I think that if it is grinding, you may have sheared the input shaft...more experience will post up soon to get you squared away, but the input shaft has my vote. I hope not though. What year truck, etc?

2006 3500 cc, has 30,000kms, just had a new complet tranny/tq put in 4k ago. I think this will be my 4th tranny in 30,000k. I stopped running a tow tune tuner after my 1st tranny went at 17k.

Only mods I got right now is drop in filter, str8 pipe, and a outlook to change my tire size and watch all my tranny, coolant, egt temps cause I pack lots of weight and tow often.

man, that sucks. wheel hop is killer on drive train parts. my vote goes to output shaft, or X-case.

Output shaft was sheared off and fell out when the guy pulled the transfer case. If was looking for a new tranny right now, I would for sure get full built race tranny. Hopefully they cover it under warrenty, if not I will get a crash course in installing a output shaft. Guess I should invest in some ladder bars too.
