Propeller shaft

i seen a link to buy new propeller shafts vs rebuilding in here some time ago. Anybody remember.

I'm not sure what you're referring to. The only component on the truck called a propeller shaft is the transmission input shaft, but they're not rebuild-able.

Are you talking about the driveshaft?

The shaft from transfer case to front diff is called a propeller shaft. Driveshaft is for trans to rear diff.

Yes, there are plenty of threads out there floating around regarding replacing u-joints. But I'm sure you may already know that the front driveshaft (sorry, propeller shaft) has a double cardan joint which is bit different than your normal u-joint set up. Rather the DC joint has a spring loaded center ball between two u-joints in a single housing.

I highly suggest not messing with this joint assembly unless you you've done them before and/or know what you're doing. For that matter, I stopped rebuilding driveshafts altogether some years ago simply because it wasnt worth my time and effort since most driveline shops charge very little to install and balance your driveshaft if you buy the u-joints from them. Then you know its right and its also balanced.....
