Front Propeller shaft removal tools?
All,
I think I have a bad joint on the front propeller/drive shaft. I would like to pull the shaft out but am wondering how you get the 5/8" bolt on the transfer case end? I can not get a socket wrench on it and I cannot seem to be able to break it free with a ratcheting boxend. Any suggestions would be great. For the Axle side it looks like I need a long T40 bit correct?
One last question: If you hold both sides of the shaft can you move them in opposite directions and get some clunking or is my shaft worn out?
Thanks,
John

I found that they are installed with red loctite. If you use localized heat, they will come out easier. I also had to "double wrench" the 5/8 on the T-case to get a little more leverage.

Use a propane torch and heat the torx head bolts and the 5/8 t-case bolts. Do one at a time to remove. They are red loctite from the factory. Found out the hard way when I stripped the first torx head and broke my bit.
