Power Steering Pump leaking
Hey all, Just changing my oil the other day and noticed some ATF fluid on power steering pump. Checked the level in reservoir (cold) was a 1/4" below low mark. Going to add some new manana. The interesting thing is no one other than dodge makes a replacement, and dodge wants $400 for a new one! The bummer is my truck is at 41000 miles so no warranty. Has anyone had similar issues? I think that I will clean it real good then see if I can find the leak maybe it's just a connection and not a major seal in the pump. Dodge told me that if it wasn't in a connection then it had to be replaced. The other option I guess would be to just keep topping off the fluid to keep the pump from burning up ($400 will buy a lot of ATF fluid!) Any input would be much appreciated.
there are 3 places to leak the ft shaft seal, need puller to change, the hoses manly the return hose sometimes they crack on the inside the length of the hose cut it shorter and reattach, then the mainseal you need to remove the pump take the bolts and fittings off hte back and pull the tank off the body then there is a large o-ring on the pump body that seals the body to tank that can leak , wash off to find out witch one it is.--[[ never if possible ever go to dealer for parts thats the highest prices]]- try a napa or other pro parts house.
