Hello I am experiencing some power steering problems with my 2500. when first started the steering wheel is very hard to turn till I start to move in forward or reverse, seems not to do it as much when warmed up but every now and then it does, so anyone know whats up? is it the pump or the steering box? thanks in advance

 

How many miles on the truck?

How may times have you flushed the power steering system?

Is it 2x4 or 4x4?

Its not unusual that it won't turn the wheels at an idle, the steering box is not the best on the 4x4.

 

90,000 miles ive never flushed it, the fluid still looked clean, its a 4x4, but has always turned fine at idle till recently.

 

Your due for a fluch and it can make a difference. Every 60-70k you should flsuh the power steering. It runs the brake booster also and the ATF is only good for so long.

I just replaced my steering box with a Borgeson for that and other problems.
