i have an 06 2500 4x4 that seems to work good but is heatin up under load (plowing snow) and using a lot of oil 3l in 20 hours no oil in the anti freeze any idea on where to start looking thanks bb

 

If the plow is blocking radiator there is a flash that will keep engine fan locked all the time to get max cooling effect. Does engine set any codes? Pull the oil cap with engine at idle is there any smoke or pressure coming out?

 

plow is not usually the problem on these trucks we have 7 only one with heating problem was thinking to check the blow by any ideas on where to go if blow by seems bad trucks not here tonite cant check till tomoro thanks bb

 

Low compression cylinder will also show up as the lowest percent contribution on scanner test. Usually a Starscan or Witech needed to run test. Dealer can tell you which cylinder not performing at 100% Then compression test should be done to confirm low compression on that cylinder. Possible head gastket issue also, Block test will show if hydrocarbons are getting into cooling system. Head gastket leakage will cause over heat problem also.
