Weak Belt or a bad pulley.

It seems to be a somewhat common problem, here's a link to another thread that might enlighten you some:

Hey Krawler,
Welcome to the site. Hope you can get your belt issue fixed soon. You mention you like the new G56 tranny. Can you compare it against the NV5600 (if you've ever rowed with one of those)? Just curious if it is smoother.

If they got bad ones, it's over a year! My truck is a Jan 04 build, and it did it with only 5400 miles.

Here's a link to a recent thread on TDR which links you to MY original thread; this makes at least a dozen posters here and on TDR who this has happened to.

Never any explanation for DC. There is obviously something going on with some of these engines which cause these belts to go. As I have previously stated, my theory is that the pulley on the bottom right passenger side (what is that, AC or water pump) there is NO room for error in tracking. If someone at the factory put it even sliiggghtttlyyyy misaligned, it's going to go.

Hopefully Britt (T-7 Firefighter) will chime in soon. Please keep us posted on what your dealer says.

Belt may also be set way to tight, this would also explain why (Snice's) altenator bracket broke.

That's interesting to hear. How did they know it was that, or were they just guessing? My dealer just "guessed". Said it was a "defective" belt.

Tell me about it, Britt. Click on the links over to the TDR, there were a couple more there recently.

Mine did the same thing with only 550 miles on it. It looked like the belt was not put on correctly at the factory as it only tore off the 1st rib on it. It also took out the tensoiner when it did that because it wraped itself around the pulley. New one has been trouble free.

Incredible. Another one. When mine went, it tore off one rib, which wrapped around the fan pulley, and made the truck undrivable.
