Possible Injector or something else
Possible Injector or something else
I started getting a rough idle at start-up, sounds like it's missing. After about 1 mile or so it would clear up. or put it in drive,(Automatic)
So I put in an 6oz of Shaffer Diesel Treat 2000 Winter Fuel Additive and a full tank of diesel.
I have used half of the tank, and now it still idles a little rough at start-up (cold) but clears up smooth
I have 152,000 miles on it.
There's is no blow-by and the oil level is perfect. I'm not getting any codes.
Does this mean that the injectors are dirty or is one of the injectors going south?
Do I replace all 6 injectors or just the one that's bad ?
Thanks
Chris

yes, it's a good bet that one or more injectors is starting to behave badly.
Fortunately for you, there are good diesel places in your area for support. Take it in to one and have them check it out.
With the miles on the truck, FastTaco is right... I would replace all and be done with it.

Just got my truck back from the shop.
rough idle and it sounded like it was missing;
They said it was mt battery Ground wire.
seems to run good since I got it back. Glad it was not an injector.

Sounds like I may need to check this on mine.
true about replacing all 6 injectors , also I had a question answered ,normal start time on the 2003 5.9 is 3 to 5 seconds
as it takes that long to build up the pressure to start i hope this helps .i also noticed tonight i went out to start the truck , i gave it a little peddle started real fast lol any real facts on running the k&n air filter ?
