possible blend door issue

the a/c compressor locked down on my truck, so i took it to the dealer to have it all fixed (i work 70 hours a week, i have very little time to tinker) They fixed that but said it still wont blow cold and blamed it on the blend door in the hvac, im thinking the blend door doesnt have anything to do with it blowing cold, it just switches from defrost to dash to floor right? Maybe i should go get my truck and quit dealing with those crooks, but then i could be wrong too.

Ummmm.... no. The "Blend" door blends heat from the heater core with ambient or cold air from the AC. The Mode door switches the air output from one area to another (defrost, dash, floor). To test your blend door next time you are driving around and the truck is warmed up, move the heater to warm, warmer, warmer and hot, and see if the output follows along.

My blend door went out and the difference was in the volume of air not the temperature. High or low speed I had very little volume! Dealer replaced the whole unit under warranty...

That was the Recirc Door. It sits right above the fan and blocks either the fresh outside air intake or the intake from inside the cab (behind the glove box). When it breaks, it falls onto the intake of the fan and blocks about 95% of the air. So, any fan speed, very little air.

If you drove your truck till it was up to temp (with the AC off), move the heat control all the way to cool, feel the temp coming out the dash vents. Then, turn the AC on. There should be a major difference. If not, I'm guessing they didn't fix your AC and want you to pay for something that isn't broke, so they can go in there and fix what they should have fixed to begin with.

On the other hand, with the AC off and the heat turned down, if the vent is still pretty warm, it just may be your blend door not moving all the way to the stop.

Do a search for more info on the subject. There are plenty to read. Some have pics showing the problem with links for parts. I thought I had a link but can't find it.

The 2006 is famos for Hvac problems. Mine has a door down right now. Its open to outside air. Can't recirculate inside the truck.

If your saying the compressor is locked up.....
Mine did the same thing, the evaporator bag in the system came apart.
Plugging an orfice (sp)hole, burning up the clutch w/compressor.
If were talking about the same problem....2007
