Popping Noise!

When making a "Hard Right Hand" turn (like when coming off a downhill grade and turning onto flat) I hear an audible "POP" and can also feel it under my left foot. Also when I go over a sharp dip in the road surface(pothole) it makes a noise that sounds like as if the battery is loose, or something of that sort. Of course I did check and cannot find anything loose Kind of like the sound when you have something laying in the bed and it "jumps" when going over a bump. Any ideas?????

Have somebody turn your steering wheel back and forth while you look under the front of your truck.....while it is running. See if there is some play in your driver side Track Bar mount. Some guys, including me, have had a problem with the mount "wallowing" out and causing a "popping".

www.lazarsmith.com sells a kit called the "ultimate track bar hardware" that cured mine.

I am not certain that is your problem, but it is worth looking into.

Right on, thanks for the info. I'll look into it and see if that's it...

Popping Noise

Haven't been able to find anything. I greased all the fittings, u-joints and front end pieces thinking something was dried out but it still pops louder than ever. I did just develop a bigtime shimmy at 70mph though, could've lost a weight but I'm really starting to wonder is it is a u-joint. Taking it in this week to get the re-call on the steering mech. taken care of and we'll see if they can come up with anything.

This wont help but: When my left front axle u-joint went, (at 71k miles) I would get a slight gallop or lurching motion when turning fairly hard to the left. I could feel it in my pedals. However, there was no "popping" noise. Had both changed at the dealer. It wasnt cheap. Hopefully it is something easier like what TexasCTD suggested.

I recently had the "popping" noise, also on sharp left turns. I ended up replacing both front axle u-joints and the problem was cured. Hope this helps.
