Could, but I don't think $29.5k for an '06 with 9600 miles is all that high. It books for a good bit more.

That sounds like a good price to me. I like my 2004 2 wheel drive auto, just wish it had one or two more gears. I had a hard time finding mine also. Just don't need a 4-wheel drive.

Yeah, I think it's reasonable too. But again, all I hear is "chirp chirp chirp".

To bad none of my power upgrades are what left me stranded it was a sensor and solenoid. Electronics, not power

clutches are a lot cheaper to upgrade then auto's

v8440-2wd is what turned me off about your truck, plus that color is super hard to keep clean, but looks beautiful when it is clean

Yep, same reason I went from my 5spd in my '97, to the auto in my '05....
I LOVE rowing gears, but not in 5 'Oclock traffic...

36k on the '05, still running strong...

The only quams I have is the shifter, sometimes doesnt select the gear fully, like it doesnt engage the shift linkage all the way, usually in reverse, just puts it in neutral until you bump the shifter up or down, then back into the gear....
A little quirk, but nothing major.

As for people having issues with slipping out of park into reverse, I have ALWAYS set the parking brake when exiting a running vehicle, habit from driving stick cars/trucks for years....

Hey, nice handle]

When I bought my truck, I had BOMBing in mind. That means my options were:
1) Six speed with weenie HO engine, but stout tranny that only needs a grand in a clutch to hold lotsa powa
2) Auto trans that has a better engine attached, but costs $800 to buy initially, and another $4K minimum to upgrade to hold 500+hp.

I figured the nearly $4k cost difference wasn't justified, and I got the 6er. Glad I did. Yes, it sometimes shifts like the proverbial oar in a bucket of bricks, but it "gits 'r dun" in fine fashion and is a perfect match to the engine wrt gear splits.

I've only regretted my 6er in heavy traffic. All other times, it's been a decision validated time and again.

For the record, if I was buying a newer CTD, it would have an auto-- the 48RE is a good tranny. Methinks you need better repair work, not a better trans, though I say that only because so many have reported such success with the 48re.

2006 2500 Quad Cab 4x4 SB AUTO, So far its been to the dealer once last week at 5700 miles for 1st-2nd shutter, slipping between gears and first start rough idle. Dealer diagnosed the trans. as the Governor pressure solenoid and transducer and they replaced both. It took them 2 days to figure out the rough idle issue, but its fixed and thats all I really care about. I made my appointment yesterday to take it in this coming Monday with 6300 mles for the same 1st-2nd shutter and transmission hunting for gears and slipping in between gear changes all the way through the rpm range at 3/4 throttle. When I manually shift the trans. it doesn't slip and runs like it should. I'm not saying I don't hot rod alot but I was hoping the thing would hold up alot better. A 6-speed is not an option in the hours worth of stop and go traffic each way to and from work. I'm not one to rush someone in their work, but I really do enjoy driving my truck and don't want to deal with a shop junkie.

I like my auto, but would really have rather had a stick. Wife can't drive a stick though.... Actually what I really wanted was a 1 ton dually, 4-door, 2WD, w/ 8ft. bed and 6 speed.... Somehow I ended up with a 3/4 4 door 4x4 with an auto... And to think... I thought I was buying ME a truck that day...
Payback is gonna be a edited by admin for the wife when we go buy her new car in January... She wants a Honda Accord... Think I'll buy her one of the new 425hp. Challengers coming out!!!!

Hey Jakes06QCD4X4
Mine has a shudder when I tow my 5th wheel at about 10 - 20 miles per hour. How do you know if your transmission is slipping? I have been a little concerned about that shudder but not sure what to do about it. I don't notice it when I am not towing. Wondered if you only had issue when towing?
I only have 4000 miles on my truck.

Anyone else care to comment would also be welcome.

I haven't towed anything yet with my truck, but I had a really good friend of mine who works on Dodge Transmissions ride with me and he seems to think it isn't the Governor Pressure Solenoid thats bad this time, he thinks its the detent control motor needing replaced or adjusted if there is an adjustment. He hasn't had a chance to work on an 06 yet, but says with the older 48re he can make it do the shutter and gear search with the adjustment of the lever that controls the detent and gear selection of the transmission while in drive.
