The p/n is 8T2821 (this one is for 80 to 230 degrees F)
A quick search after reading this thread lead me to this website where those type strips can be ordered in various temperature ranges.

The flaking paint on the diff cover is normal.

Totally agree with above. Mine flaked too, I installed the PML cover and use synthetic 75W-140. The next rear diff oil change was really easy.

have not read the rest of the drivel so I don't know if it's been mentioned, but poor paint and prep is the leading cause of issue here. GM had "rusty" axle housing when they were using AM too.

it was approx. 4 qts. for stock fill, it was 8 quarts for the Mag-Hytec cover.

Unfortunately there are many places where the bare metal is rusting before it leaves the dealers lot. I used a few cans of semi-gloss and flat black on the axles, drive line, steering box etc. Looks better now but if you live in a part of the country where they use salt or just a lot of bad weather it could get ugly fast.

I'll let you in on a little secret, GM still uses AAM. The AAM 11.5 axle used by DC and the one used by GM are one in the SAME.
