P1740 and California Smog Inspection

I just wanted to inform everyone in CA ... I have a P1740 code stored in my ECM/TCM that my code reader doesn't seem to want to erase. I was going to get it cleared before getting my biennial smog inspection. But, I never got around to it and decided to get it inspected anyway (and see what happens). Well, the good news is that it did not cause the truck to fail. It passed with flying colors even with the stored code (check engine light was off).

As for the code, I believe it happened as a result of electronic gremlins when my batteries got low (since replaced) or some transient condition that tripped it. The truck has always shifted/locked up as new and the code has been sitting there for over a year now.
