Great advice from everyone but does anyone have an answer to my question?? Will an over filled transmission get damaged and cause a shutter at slow acceleration from a stop after the correct amount of fluid is added after a service from the dealer?

Yes , it can. Not ALWAYS, as a rule, but it CAN happen. The damage may already be done, even if the fluid level has been corrected.

i rebuilt my first auto in 1964. i gave it up about 4 years ago. i have NEVER seen a trans damaged by over filling. it will come out the vent and make a mess. in fact some of the gm trans that left my shop with MY warranty were filled exactly 1 gallon overfull. in 39 years never had one damaged by overfill.

According to the advisors on Dodge's STAR Tech line, they claim that the fluid foams, causing incorrect pressures. This, in return, causes slippage. Just my opinion, not saying you are right or wrong. I just know from experience, that I want everything "book perfect" on my trans. with the record that they have! LOL
