Open Differential Mechanics

Okay, fundamentally, I undertand the difference between and open differential and a limited slip differential. However I have a question. Assuming you have an open differential, and you are on the street (ie meaning both tires have traction). Assume that you are at a dead stop, and then hit the accelerator. You rapidly start gaining speed (however you are on the street, so no slippage). If you have an open differential, are both rear tires pushing the vehicle, or is it just the right rear tire pushing the vehicle, with the left rear simply turning without any push.

I understand, that using an open differential, with slippage, only 1 tire will be spinning. However, what happens when both tires actually have traction. Are they both contributing to the acceleration of hte vehicle, or just one?

Both tires are pushing when they both have traction.
