I am wondering if I go with the 285/70 if the smaller diameter will help improve my MPG, anyone made this comparison?? What about the difference in High way MPG, got the auto trans.

Ok so ideas on size, I really dont know how much difference it will make. That is why I am trying to see if anyone else has played with it before. Thanks guys.
I did take a hit power and mileage wise when I went from the 285-70-17's to the "75's". I carry 2000# on my back constantly. With the low final drive on my g-56 I've got the equivalent of 4.11's. The "75's" dropped the rpms but nailed me performance and mileage wise slightly. I think you'll do better with the "70's". They don't look as cool but are more funtional when hauling or carrying heavy loads.

From: Used to be missoula, montana: Now in Sonoma County California
i had no mileage change between 285/75R17's and 285/70R17 both AT's

I have the nitto teras and i think next time i am buying two sets a set of duras for most of the year and a good set of AT's or something aggressive for the winter muddy adn snowy months

2.5 mpg sacrificed for running MT's and 1.5 mpg with the taller 315/70R17's in an AT

I tow a 16k lbs gn regularly and with my nv5600, 3.73's and the 285/75 R17's rpms and cruising numbers are perfect. my 315's were too fast in OD leaving me hunting between OD and direct on mild grades. my 285/70's were nice but the slight step up to the 285/75s really got me where i wanted to be rpm, size, fit, and capacity wise. in CA with the 55 mph speed limit while towing i can cruise 60 mph and everything is smooth yet when i head to montana and i am doing 70-75+ i still have the rpms in a smooth range and not wound out

I don't notice any tire rub with my current tires. I had a little with the 35'' muds, but even it wasn't an issue.

Nice. My plans are to Level...then get some meat under it! Thanks for the info
