hello,

change my oil in accordance with the owners manual. have about 5k on the oil and looked at the dip stick. oil is down from the full mark less than half an inch. wondering what that translates into quarts or part of a quart of oil? would like to not put any oil in until my next change in about 2k miles.

so what does the range in quarts mean on the stick between the operating lines on the stick?

The space between full and add is 2 quarts.

 

Yes, 2 quarts and there are TONS of threads addressing this issue. Mine will do the same thing, then I ck it next day and it's perfectly on the full. FOr some reason, these engines will hold a quart of oil up in them SOMETIMES... Not all the time. Everyone has come to the conclusion that as long as it's in the SAFE range you should be OK...

 

Yeah, mine is one that seems to take a long time for all the oil to make it back to the pan...
