For those who have a real oil pressure gauge....I'm looking for a comparison to my readings:
Hot idle: 10-12 PSI.
2500RPM: 55PSI

Per Cummins specs, this is acceptable: >10psi at hot idle and >35psi at 2500rpm

I am running Valvoline Premium Blue 15W40, a stratopore (LF16035) oil filter, and have 21k on the truck/motor.

I just don't like the lower oil pressure at idle. I've never seen it drop lower than 10psi.

So, let's hear it...What are your oil pressure readings, what brand oil, and how many miles do you have on your truck?

I'm also thinking about trying Amsoil, while it's still hot here in (()) i mean phoenix, just to see what the oil pressure does....and to see if it helps MPG.

Well, I run Rotella 5w-40 synthetic. At hot idle, I'm at 19 - 20 psi, and 2500 rpm is about 65 psi. The truck has 38k on it. --Eric

 

145k on the ticker and I read 25-20 at idle hot and 65-75 at 1800rpm hot. Cold is 55-60 idle and 85 at 1800 rpm. I would try a different oil maybe? I use Mobil Delvac myself. Oil has nearing 2500 on the oil change.

It's near an oil change. Guess it's time to experiment! I may just go for the Amsoil Synthetic to see if I can get a MPG increase as well as oil pressure!

BTW...All the oil analysis says nothing is unusual about the oil.

If there are any other opinions, I'd like to hear them!
