I noticed an oil leak the other day. Crawled around the truck but couldn't find the source. It's on the passenger's side somewhere. A little oil on the filter but only at the bottom, the top appears clean. everything I can see above the filter appears clean as well. Any ideas??? Is this a warranty item? I only have 20,000 miles on it.

Any advice is appreciated.

I have noticed from time to time some oil on my filter. It's been from filling it up prior to install and some leaking over the side of the gasket if I tilt it by accident putting it on. Just make sure your oil filter is good and hand tight. You may have also spilt a little bit. May be from oil changes. Some always drips down when you are changing filters.

 

had same thing a while ago it was a hairline crack in my filter. Put a new one on a no more leak.

 

Thanks for the suggestions. I've picked up a new oil filter and oil. I'll start there. If the leak is still present after that I guess I'll take her in to the dealer.

I've seen many bad oil filters leak around the crimp.
