Oil change Whoops

So I changed the oil this weekend in the vehicles and messed up with the CTD. I dumped in 2-gallons of Amsoil 15w-40 Diesel oil and 1-gallon of Amsoil 10w-40 gasser oil. It isn’t like I put gas in the fuel tank, but it was a bonehead move.

What would you guys do? Just run it a few weeks and change it again, or go the next oil change interval and not worry about it, add some diesel additive to the oil? The base stocks are probably the same, just slightly different viscosities and additives.

Maybe the engine is shot now; so I’ll need to yank it, rebuild it with a cam, springs, studs, sticks, twin turbos and a Smarty on 9 all the time, lol!!

The only real differance between gas and diesel oil is the amount of ZDDP. The diesel oil has a little bit more. And there's some small differances in the detergent package.

Don't worry about it, it will be fine. Just run it as is until your next scheduled oil change.

Just change it again. You'll be fine. Gasser oil won't handle the soot like diesel oil will. You will risk wearing the cam and lifters out.

As the 10W-40 is also a high zinc formulation and rated CI-4 plus I don't think you have too much to worry about...

stop beating yourself up.

they recommend running a 10w-30 weight oil in the winter in the engine anyway and last time i checked they didn't make a just diesel engine oil in that weight so i think you'll be fine
