oil change interivals

My buddy just bought an 07 mega cab 3500 dually with the 5.9. what are the normal oil change interivals? Are they the same as the older trucks. I thought I read some where to wait longer that normal for the first one but I am not sure

I change mine at 5k. Book says you can go longer, but my theory is the more often I change it, the more often I look the rest of the truck over including greasing it, ect., and the longer it will last. I compared 5k to 7k costs of changing the oil and over all it would cost $250 more to change it over 150K miles. Basically $.0016 more per mile to maintain. I think I can absorb that cost!

I go 8-12k miles depending on how I am driving her and such.....factory recommends 8k for regular duty for my truck....but with the high dollar filters and high dollar syn oil I go a bit longer and samples have shown about the same numbers....

It's in the manual. 7500 severe duty or 15K regular duty.

If you look at the conditions for driving regular duty compared to severe duty ( I think that is how it is worded ) There isn't a person in the world that drives regular duty. Regular duty is a maintenance schedule that was designed STRICTLY for JD Power's cost of maintenance. That, fella's, came straight from a Dodge engineer. Regualr duty - no idling, no constant highway speeds, no cold temperatures, no hot temperatures, no dusty conditions, no stop and go driving. C'mon......nobody falls under thoe stipulations for the light ( regular ) duty schedule.
