nv5600 reverse lights

Is there anything besides the reverse light sensor that would cause the reverse lights to only work intermittently? The dealer won't fix under warranty because he says it doesn't do it in his shop.

Any help before I spend $80 on the part would be helpful!

It wouldn't bug me so much if I hadn't almost got hit 2 times because of no reverse lights.

The reverse lamp switch is notorious for going bad. Replacing takes is about 5 minutes and $40 from Autozone.

To test if it is the switch gone bad and the rest of the circuit good:

Take the connector apart at the transmission.
Jump the harness pins with a paper clip.
Reverse lights should be on solid.
Obviously, regardless of transmission gear.

Or, you can test the switch with an ohmmeter and somebody else wiggling the shift lever.

Mine was intermittent for a good while before the switch failed completely. Changing it out was less than a 5 minute job.
