No Wait To Start Light
No Wait To Start Light
My wait to start light no longer waits anymore when the engine dash lights go off after I turn the key on the wait to start light goes off at the same time.I have checked the fuses and relay in fuse box am I missing a relay or fuse somewhere?
Once the ambient outside temp reaches around 50* the grid heater does not come on. No need to pre-heat the chamber/fuel. Sure sign spring/summer is here, it will be back on in the fall when the overnight temps drop. Some who keep their trucks in the garage don't see the grid heater until they park outside somewhere during the day.

I thought it came on last summer even in hell (Arizona).Do you guys think it's the pigtail? The light comes on but then shuts off with the rest of the dash lights at first turn of the key.How do you perform the display test?
THATS WHAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO DO !
"The light comes on but then shuts off with the rest of the dash lights at first turn of the key." .....DONT WORRIE
"How do you perform the display test?"...YOU TURN THE KEY ON
Belgianmagic,
Although I appreciate your non-educated advice you need to read the original thread again! It has always come on and waited even in 123 degree weather EVERY TIME I start it winter, summer, spring, fall. If it didn't come on last summer I wouldn't have started this thread.Bob and Peterbilt thanks for the info it's nice to see some one can read!

Perform the bulb test. Hold the trip reset button down ( with the key in the off position) then turn the key on. You will see every light and guage go thru a self test. It will then also show you any Instrument cluster codes in the ODO screen. Let us know! BTW- Mine turns on for same time as all the other lights at any temp above 60 degrees. Maybe you had a problem with a temp sensor last summer and your truck was doing something wrong at that time?
Vzdude,
I did the test that's a trip I've never seen some of those light's even come on before(thank god).It gave me c-code 00 00 after the check was preformed I'm thinking that mean's no error?

Yup, no codes.
So when it did all that the wait to start lamp cycled on then off right? Check to see if you have any engine codes by turning key on/off 4 times ending in the on position ( starting from off, and not cranking ) Should show any codes in the odo. If no codes I would chalk it up to "normal". The only thing that would concern me is why it was coming on last summer in high heat? The only thing I can think of is that the ambient temp sensor is only calibrated to maybe 105 or 110 degrees and anything above that it defaults to a low temp that turns the grid heaters on to make sure the truck will start? It's a theory that sounds good on paper at least!
