no reverse 04.5 48RE trans

tonight went to drive home and my truck wouldn't drive in reverse. Tried forward and it seemed fine(couldn't drive far as I was parked in a driveway).

Tried several times shifting from forward to reverse to get it to back up without much luck. Put in in low range and tried without much difference. Finally got it out of the driveway, only not far enough to drive away.
Neighbor came out and tried to push, wouldn't move.

Hooked up a rope to his truck(thankfully a Dodge) and put the tcase in neutral and pulled it back far enough to park it in the street. When I when to put the transmission back in park it made clicking/grinding sound that transmitted through the shifter. I was afraid to drive it forward to see if it worked and/or would shift into other gears.

Truck is an 04.5 with the 48RE. 67K miles. Reverse band has never been adjusted. 2nd gear band adjust after transmission fluid was changed. Transmission has only been serviced once around 40k miles. Filled with Amsoil. Truck is a DD and most always empty.

No signs previous to this situation. I have 37" tires and a Smarty on 3. Trans does slip if I step on it.

More than likey the clutches are toast. The forward clutch would explain part of it but the direct clutches are probably the culpret.
Drop it out, clean up everything and replace those clutches and steels before it goes too far. I did mine 40K miles ago for $250. in parts and didn't take it completely apart, only as far as the front cluster of drums and clutches.
good luck.

I would say its smoked. If you are keeping the truck and can swing it, build it once and build it right. You will be amazed at the difference it makes
