No Cruise Control

Just picked up my new '06 Quad Cab 4x4 SWB and have no speed control. When I hit the on-off button on the wheel, there's no "Cruise" light on the dash or anything. It's dead. Any ideas where I can start looking to fix this?

Thanks

I should have posted this in the other 3rd Gen Forum. I don't know how to move it there.

A few buttons on my steering wheel did'nt respond as expected till I got a few road miles. After 2 or three days everything worked like it was suppose to. I had problems with stereo controls but the same location area. I sure hope that is it with yours.

Sounds like the buttons are broken. Since it is new I would say you just make the dealer fix it

How are you Phil, this is Pete Martin, I work at the AM General off road track in South Bend. I know you have been down here before, and used to set up some off road venues for us as well. Hope everthing works out with you truck.

Hi Pete. I'm fine, except for purchasing a brand new truck with bugs. I've been reworking Off-Road magazine for the last year, taking it more in the direction I took 4WD&SU (only with more trucks and less Jeeps) with travel/adventure features and useful tech for real people. We've let Truckin' and Sport Truck magazines take the show trucks.

Sounds good Phil, and if you ever get out this way and need some guys to wheel with, the whole team here has very stout machines. We also get out to Moab every year for EJS and Silver Lake in Michigan, and Badlands, and San Juans in Colorado, and............

I'll send a PM if I'm headed out on any interesting trips. At least, we can hook up in Moab at EJS. I'm always there.

UPDATE:

I just returned home from my dealer - with a new silver truck.

I took the truck in this morning and, after the service advisor told me, "It will be two weeks before we can even LOOK at it," I went to the General Manager and she hooked me up with the Service Manager. He is a very good guy and hooked a scan tool up. He told me there were a number of things wrong and that it would mean disassembly of the dash and removal of the column. I reported this to the GM and she immediately backed me out of that truck and gave me another, identical (except for color) truck that works fine so far.

I'm quite happy.

Phil - you're lucky you've got a big... stick - one of the nice perks with your job. Keep up the good work!
