Nitto Or Toyo

I know,I know, this has may been debated before. But I need to know what y'all think I should do.I'm trying to decide which tire to buy.I'm leaning towards a 285-75-17 tire which I will be mounting on a stock rim. This size seems to be the tallest (33.8") and still fit on a 8 inch wide rim.The truck has 2 inch spacers up front.I wish I could go 35-12.5-17 but I was told the rim is too narrow. Both NITTO and TOYO are about the same price:$950 shipped.Any thoughts would be appreciated.Thanks.-Andy.

Im on my second set of Toyo's so I am biased.

But you will get better wear out of the Toyo's. Mine are incredible in this crappy ice/snow weather we have up here right now.

I had the 285 75 17 Toyo's on the stock wheels and really liked them. I now have 305 70 17 Nitto's on the stock wheels and like them even better. Ride and handling is better with the Nitto's.

You can mount a 12.5 wide tire on your stock rims in fact I have had 14.5 wide tires on 8 inch wide rims.

Nitto are made by Toyo (thats what my tire guy said).

I've had both.

I'd buy the Toyos again, but not the Nittos.

If you want to go bigger many folks (including me) have 315-70-17's mounted on stock rims. They fit just fine.

I cant contribute to the Nitto vs. Toyo thing though, I dont know anything about either.

I have the Nitto Durra Grapplers and they're great so far (almost 10k miles). I was considering the Toyo Open Country H/T for next time, but on second thought, I think the Nittos are rated for more weight per tire. I tow a heavy 5th wheel trailer so unless the Toyos can match or beat 3750 lbs per tire, it'll be more Nittos for me.

I have the Toyo AT's in a 285/70/17. 30K miles on them and they are at 30%. $950 for Toyo's in a E rating is a great buy. No experience with the Nitto's.

I have never ran Toyos, but I can say that I dont care at all for my Nitto Terras. I have had them on for about 6k and they are below 50%. Wow, I know. I never ever spin the ol tires either. I just drove about 600 miles on gravel during antelope season when they were brand new. No cupping or chunking, just wore quick. I'm going with a set of Toyos next.

I've had the nitto terra, they wore out fast and were a little out of round. I've had toyo at, and were a great tire, very little weight to balance, but after 30,000 miles I was bored of them. I have toyo muds now 35", not sure I like them. Really liked them when they were new, but they are getting noisier, rougher, and out of round after 40,000 miles. Lots of thread left too, bet I could put another 20,000 on them, but not sure I can stand them that long. Might try BFG MT next, or go back to BFG AT KO.

If any are interested (especially those that are waiting for their OEM tires to crater) in the best of the best, it is time to get your names on this thread:

Trust me, once you try, you'll never go back to anything else. A bit noisier than A/T's, but worth it in performance.

I have Toyo MT 35x12.50 17s on stock rims. I love them, had Nitto Terra Graplers on my other truck and love the Toyos over the Nittos.
