Thumbs up Got 'Em Put on Last Weekend

So far I like the additional height, ride, quiet. They took very little weight to balance and they ride very smooth, no vibration or drama of any kind. Definitely a bigger tire.

At the tire shop before tire change. Existing 285 70 17 Toyo A/T's with less than legal tread on two remaining.

After install. New 285 75 17 Dura Grapplers. The truck no longer looks like it has small tires on it. Very happy with the look from any angle. revs per mile went from 634 to 614 which adds about 2mph at 60mph. Smarty recalibrated the spedo.

In response to Sevir. I had my tires rotated every 3 -5 thousand. I think it has do with the heat here in arizona that tires wear out a little faster than where it is a little cooler.I notice guys back east and such getting a lot better wear.

I had the Terra's before the Dura's. The Terra's are stickier. Better in rain and snow. But don't last long at all, in my experience. If I did more off road stuff the Terra's would be best, imo. I'm doing 85% highway driving the rest city. Dura's are perfect for me.

Tire history

I'm a little late to this post, but now have just over 180K on my '05. Have kept it stock and 2 years ago added firestone bags. My first set of oem Michelins I changed at 68K with some tread left on them, bought 3 & used the spare for 4 like tires. Changed those out at 118K - only 50K but did that because was getting into the around the country season and didn't want tire problems, still reasonable tread on them. Next set tried to save a few bucks and put on Yoko's road tread with same spec as oem, but at 50K, they were pretty much ready to change, so I changed 2 back to Michelin using the newer MS2's with 70K wear warranty on them and added 2 more 7K later.

Since I'm in AZ Discount Tire has supplied all of mine except for the last 2 as they weren't near where I was at that time and Costco was. Think of a longer 5er and am intersted in 19.5's, but not serious yet. Maybe next year.

Truck has been great and I do not ever add oil and change the filter every 25K with the Amsoil long-life and the oil every 50. Trans pan is dropped & drained at 20K with a band adjustment and rear-end and anti-freeze 100K intervals using Amsoil in all except anti-freeze which I got at Dodge. No problems except blown inter-cooler a few years ago, replaced with new style welded one (not crimped) from Dodge. Also use Lucas fuel conditioner at most fillups, buing it by the case (4 gallons) and transferring to qt. bottle - 6 oz. per fill.

Happy haulin'

I've got 265/75/R16 D rated Terra Grapplers on my 2001 1500 Silverado and 285/70/R17 E rated Dura Grapplers on my Ram.

As was mentioned the Terra is more grippy especially in off road situations and very good in snow.

Since the Silverado is a regular cab short bed (smaller) I usually take it on trips that involve more backroad driving and the Terra Grapplers do great. On the road they're a lot noisier than the Dura Grapplers. In snow they do very well.

Since I usually don't take my Ram on some of these excursions I went with the Dura Grapplers. They are ok on backroads but are not the same as the Terras.

I have been very impressed with the Dura Grapplers. Even with a very heavy load, they have almost no sidewall bulge. The 285/70/17s are rated at 3750lbs @ 80psi.

How stiff is the sidewall you ask? Well, I went to Pismo Beach a few weeks ago and in order for me to get into the soft stuff while towing my trailer, I have to air down. With trailer in tow, the tires didn't start to seriously bulge until I got to 20 psi. Took them down to 15 psi and I could roam anywhere in the sand with my 2wd. Name: 2011-10-05144554.jpg

I've had Michelins, BFG, Firestones and now these on mine.
I keep them rotated and have rebalanced these once.
I mostly drive hiway and keep them pretty full presure wise, and by far they have been the best tire I've run.
They are also the loudest on wet pavement which I thought was a bit strange...
I may try the Terra's nect go round.

I'm real happy with mine as well. 285/75s are the absolute perfect size tire for these trucks.
