New to us 05 diesel

We took it on the first trip this weekend. I have enjoyed it around town but was flat out amazed in the mountains. Ran from the lower mainland to the Okanagan and back, about 600 miles, on 3/4 tank of fuel. I can live with this.
This puppy MOVES. We climbed the Coquihalla pass at 110 kph in overdrive, it didn't know the hill was there. I had to remind Karen several times to watch her speed, she is used to a 4 cylinder Tribute. We can hardly wait to hook up the fifth wheel.

I drive up and down the Coq almost every weekend from school and I hear you. Gotta watch it, once the trans locks in, it'll pull and pull till you look down and gotta lay off the pedal.

Is yours a 4x4 or 2 wheel drive. 600m/960km is pretty good for 3/4 of a tank I have to say. I'm up and down from kamloops in just around or over a half thats 600km round trip. I did get 950km one trip coming back from hunting but the light came on. Though up and down a couple mountains dont help the mileage much lol.

LOL! I bought my 2005 new with only 8 miles on the ODO. I love it, until recently it has given me NO problems (but now drivers side front u-joint is clicking, about to replace both sides in a couple of weeks).

With no load I can go from San Antonio, Texas to Dayton, Ohio (1200 miles) on 1.75 tanks. With 8K pound travel trailer same route takes 3.5 tanks.

I had to force my wife to start using the cruise control. The first time I let her drive while towing an 8K travel trailer, I took a short nap only to be woken up by a hard bump ( bad section of highway). I looked over at speedo and she was cruising at 90-95 mph!!!! She said she didn't even realize it. If you ask me, I think 2005 was the best year before the 6.7L debuted, I see a lot of issues posted about the 2006 and 2007 5.9Ls.

Where's the pics?? I love my '05. I wouldn't trade mine for a new one even if you gave me the new one. My wife will drive mine when she has to but she doesn't like to.

I love my 05 dually too, I would recommend that you use the tow/haul button when pulling a fifth wheel, and probably any trailer for that matter, I DIDNT and my transmission destroyed itself. Cost me $3200 employee cost at the dealer.

I will have pics when we get the camera back from the repair depot. Still need to get the fifth wheel installed and we have a few minor trailer issues like a new toilet and mattress to deal with. CF, ours is 2wd, Karen has osteoarthritis and would never get in and out of anything taller.
