New Truck, Sloppy Steering with a point of resistance?

So I bought an 04 2500 Cummins today with about 90k on it. Good power, good truck just has some sloppy steering and it has a really wierd point of resistance if you turn just slightly to the right. Hard to describe but if you turn it slightly to the right, like 2:00 positon, it has a catch point that you can feel in the wheel. Once you get past that point it is fine and it doesn't do it to the left. Anybody had a similar issue or know some good things to look for as a culprit for sloppy steering in general?

Thanks!

Stupid computer. I wish I could blow it up at times.

It should say Ball Joints!

Try disconnecting steering linkage at pitman arm. If binding is still there then problem in steering gear box.

Looked for play today and couldn't find any in the TRE's or Ball Joints. Thinking it might be the gear box..

Any other ideas/things to look for? None of the front end look to have any amount of play in it, everything looked nice. Would the PSC brace and a new stabilizer help any?

Mine had a similar problem. It is probably the track bar bolt on the driver side "wallowing" out inside the mount. Get somebody to turn your steering wheel with the truck running.....and crawl under your front to look at it and verify.

Lazarsmith.com sells the "ultimate track bar hardware" kit that will fix it. And you can replace the bushings on your tb too while it's out if needed.

After adding this, my steering is nice and tight and no "popping".
