New wheels, sloppy steering
New wheels, sloppy steering
Just put on some 17x8.5 wheels with 5 3/8 backspacing and 295 nittos and now the steering seems strange. When I turn the wheel to the right or left a little bit the truck will sort of dive and try to keep steering that direction. Is the additional offset causing something? What parts do you guys suggest I look at. It steered great with the stock wheels and 285 bfg's.

Those sound like H2 wheels.
It's time for you to do some upgrades on the front suspension. Typical things are ball joints, alignment (max out the caster angle, set the correct tow and note the camber for future ball joint repalcement if needed, center the steering wheel), shocks, track bar.
Then adjust the steering box and make sure the tires have enough pressure.
These things will make it drive better than new.
