New Truck - Questions
Morning everyone. I closed the deal on Wednesday for a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 Crew Cab LB 4x4 Dually. The dealer found a truck for me with almost everything. It Metallic Black, Larime (SP?), and has the 6.7 Diesel, 6 speed auto tran, Nav Radio, Dark Slate leather, exhaust brake, brake controller, video system for the kids with sirius tv, and just about everything else. It didn't have the chrome package, remote start or the two tone paint. So, the truck in currently in paint being made a two tone, with silver being the bottom color. The remote start and chrome package will be installed when the truck gets out of paint. End result, is this truck has everything! I'm very happy to see Dodge has finally added all the bells and whistles.
This truck rocks. I traded my 2006 Larime (SP?) with the 5.9 in for this truck. The 2006 was a great truck, the thing I didn't like was the tranny and how it shifted when towing. And the fact of how well the exhaust brake worked with the tranny. Any case, I have a couple of questions about the new truck which I won't get until late next week. Yeah, I own it, but can't drive it since it's in the paint shop.
1. On my 2006, I had a dealer enable the idle feature where I put the emergency brake on, turned on the cruise, and pressed the set button. I could then control the idle up and down. Does the 2010 with the 6.7 have this same feature. If it does, can you tell me where in the scan star tool menu the setting is so I can tell the dealer when I talk to them about this. I had to argue with the deal last time, because they said that the option didn't exist, and I ended up getting another dealer to enable the setting for me.
2. Is the fuel pump the same one that has had problems in the past?
3. Would a fuel pressure gauge be recommended?
I'm sure I will have more questions in the future when I actually get the truck next week. Thanks Anthony

Congratulations on the 6.7. We really enjoy ours. Before you take possession of the truck, make sure the high idle in enabled. It will work just like it did on your old truck. Hit cruise, set and then idle it up or down. As far as I know the fuel pump issues have been corrected (I had a 2000 before so I know all about those pumps). I use a Edge Insight that plugs into the OBDII port for my gauge package. Clean, low profile, efficient install and I don't lose my vision like I did with gauges on the a-pillar. It reads the rail pressure but no lift pump pressure which does not concern me.
The 6 speed auto is an amazing work of engineering art. The shifts are quick, no hunting, and its always in the right gear. The reverse gear is excellent also, nice and short. First and second are actually shorter gears than first gear in the old transmission. I tow quite a bit and my dad has a 05 also. I'll never go back to the 4 speed and don't get me going on how great that engine brake is.
