New truck leaking fuel

I was getting a fuel smell at stops after the truck was warmed up. I thought I had a leaking fuel line fitting on the fuel rail, which I tightened, and I was still getting the smell. It never leaked fast enough to drip on the ground. On closer inspection, the Fuel Pressure sensor, which screws into the fuel rail, was leaking. Dodge had to order the part and replaced it today. I don't know if this could effect MPG, or engine power by giving erroneous readings to the ecm. Anyone else seen this part go bad? Truck has just over 900 miles now. 13.5 mpg on very limited short trip city driving so far. Thanks
