Than it should be under warranty of some kind. Call them up, or take it back if you can get it over there under it's own power.

The 05's don't have an OD off, never have. All you have is a TH which is a modified shift program that will still go to OD.

Are you sure it is going into drive when you are in manual 2nd? You will get 2 shifts when you do that; 1st to 2nd and TC lockup that will feel like another shift.

Check your speed in drive and 2nd lockup and see if there is a difference.

Sounds like they may have simply uploaded the stock programming (tow/haul mode), instead of what you had before (overdrive off). Either way, the dealer can fix it with a simple computer scan.

You don't need to turn off OD to pull a trailer. The truck will automatically downshift as needed. It may upshift and downshift frequently if your speeds are under 50 mph but it setup to work like that. Don't know the conditions that prompted this action but it is generally not needed.

An 05 by default does NOT have an OD off. It has a Tow\Haul button that is just a more aggressive shift and lockup program. A stock truck will not lock out OD. That was a owner requested functionality that a dealer would have to pu in there by your request, or the original owner if it is not you. If that is what it was doing you can request that but its worse than the stock program for transmission life. If it is now not locking out OD when you engage TH then the dealer updated the ECU and overwrote the flash for OD lockout, thats what happens on updates. The dealer would have to reload that flash to re-enable that functionality.
