New to diesel?

Just bought an 04 2500 5.9l motor built 01-2004 (not4.5)
Truly amazing! My commute to work today I got 23.4 mpg. The truck has 63k on it with a 5" procomp lift, banks exhaust, and intake. I have noticed the notorious front driveline drone at 60mph but it's not that bad.

New to diesel questions.....
I am curious why the truck has dual batteries. I am looking to monitor the EGT, boost, turbo time, ect. Is there an electronic monitor I can use that does not modify the ecu or add on. Just looking to monitor.

The truck requires two batteries to start the truck. Due to the large amount of compression and the fast heating glow plugs. Good luck jump starting one with a car

Uh, Cummins engines don't have glow plugs. Instead, they use a heating grid like a toaster. It's inside the black box that's by the intake manifold.

There are a few "monitors" that you can get to keep tabs on your truck.
Search "Qaudzilla Commander" or "Attitude Monitor".

Most of us just hook up regular old gauges:
