The new 2011 First trip to service already...

As some of you know i got the 2011 laramie from reading other posts. I didnt notice it when i left the dealer ship last friday in SC but I am from PA and it is at a PA dealer service shop right now, just dropped it off tonight.
I was hearing this whiney noise when i would start out making right hand turns. I am guess the power steering pump.

Also at 15mph the doors will lock auto. well my back passenger door will lock and make a jumpy noise like trying to lock twice which is not good.

Also the check engine light was on on my way back from SC to PA friday but went off saturday not on anymore not sure what that was.

also that tire light load button does not work when i push it. Just wanted to see what it would do and how it worked but when i pushed it the screen said error max pressure. So they are looking at that.

Going to have the dealer program the exhaust brake so it is always on at start up so i dont have to push the on button everytime.

I will post on monday when i pick it up on what the causes where.

Alright the the steering noise was the steering box. it was bad they are replacing.
The back lock the locking mec. went or was bad. That got placed

The tires had the wrong amount of pressure in them to make the light load button work.

The engine had no codes.

I asked the tech about programming the exhaust brake to come on when starting and he told me he didnt know a way to do that. I thought i read on here it could be Done?? any thoughts?
thanks

I think that the EB auto on may be for the CC trucks only.

Seems to be a growing issue with the steering on the new trucks.

At least they are getting you fixed up.

Must be standard issue for new trucks. My 07 had darn near every steering component replaced with the first 10k mi (prev owner). Good thing they put in better parts the 2nd time, as I've only had to replace the steering box (and pump) recently, 70k mi.

My truck has the described steering noise when starting out on a right turn. Dealer mechanic said he had no idea what was making the noise. I have had three dodges (05, 06 and 10) and all of them had steering issues. You would think Dodge could solve these problems if they "really" wanted to.

Alright so today the dealer called me and said they called dodge and their engineers are working on a fix. I guess its a big problem in the new 2011. Anyway they told me probably a recall or something but no safety issues. I am getting it back tomorrow and i guess just keep driving until they find a fix. Who knows....

I have the same issue with steering, right turn only. I'm now having issues with my back driver side window. It doesn't roll down straight, it whines then straightens back out. The chrome trim is peeling off door and fender flare is peeling. I'm scared to do any mods because it has to go to dealer so often. I like the truck, but I can't wait to get all the bugs worked out.

As some one that has worked on the other end(I was an engineering intern last spring/summer) I would never buy a first year product, the issues that come up are just amazing, and it stuff that just doesn't shop up all the time in testing

I partially agree with this but the steering on the 2011 is technically the same as the 09 trucks so they have had a few years of real time testing to expose and fix the issue. The cab on these trucks have been used on the 1500s for a few years as well.

You have a first year product. At least it is a good one.

Yeah same here I want to do some mods but i am not now for at least a few months i guess.. My question i guess would be if i did my mods to the motor, everything else should be covered correct?? why would the motor cause other things to go wrong like a door or steering or paint??? They would still have to cover everything under warranty correct just not the motor??

I have a 2001 and 2007, one with 5.9L and one with 6.7L....finances are getting better and I was seriously considering getting a 2010 or 2011. But, I don't know. My 2001 has 120k miles and has been awesome. My 2007 needs warranty work. I'm very confused with the product Dodge is putting out right now.
