Need help with codes please!

I recently bought a new 2006 Ram. The truck is completely stock except the dealer installed a Jake exhaust brake. I have about 600 miles on the new truck and thought I would check to see if there were any codes, not really expecting to find any. To my surprise there are 3 codes showing up; S113, C447, and .264. Could someone please tell me what these codes mean. Thanks for your help.

I am not sure what those are. Are you turning your key to get codes or using a tool ? Heres a link to codes http://www.obdii.com/codes.html

How do you check for codes with the key?

Turn the key from off to on three times without starting, leave in on position. Any trouble codes will display in order on the OD display. "done" will show when completed.

I guess I am following the right procedure to get codes on my 06. With the 06 to get codes I have to hold the odometer selection stem down and then turn the key on. This is different than on the 05 I traded in. To get codes on the 05 I followed the procedure described by RamWheels. The codes my 06 is showing look strange; consequently, I don't know if I am following the correct procedure to get the codes. Anyone know how you are supposed to get codes on an 06?

If you turn the key to the on position and hold the odo stem it will show you the engine hours....the procedure should still be the same to check the codes....give it a try

White Lightening, when I turn the key on and off three times ending with the key off (the same procedure I used on my 05) the odometer just shows the mileage. On the 05 it would say "done" or it would show codes. Consequently, I tried holding the odometer stem down and turning the key on and the odemeter instead of showing hours shows "S113, C447 and .264". I don't know what this means but apparently they are not diagnostic codes which typically start with a "P". Maybe the 06's instead of showing "done" if you have no codes simply continues showing the mileage. I was hoping someone would know the correct procedure for getting codes from an 06. Apparently something has changed in the 06's compared to the other model years.

You need to do the off/on sequence 3 times and then leave the key ON , not off. At that stage the codes will display followed by a "done" or if no codes just the done.

Sounds to me like you triggered the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic test and code display. I think that some of instrument cluster error codes show with a "C". They would be C XX XX format I think, I have to go out and run the diagnostics and see for sure. I have a list of Instument Cluster Error codes in a file somewhere, I will look for it if you want the list.

Sorry donhov. I meant to say in my earlier post that I left the key on not off. Turning the key on three times does not work on my truck to get codes. I would like to hear from other people whom own 06's and have tried to display codes on their odometers to see if they have found a procedure that works. There seems to be a lot more "little" changes in the 06's than what I would have expected, this being one of them.
