Is my transmision slipping?

When I pull my camper(around 10,000lbs) I notice a weird shudder while I am manuvering around at slow speeds. It only happens while I am accelerating from a stop and usaly while turning but not always. It only does it at speeds of less than around 10mph. Its not shifting between 1st and 2nd its still in first while it does it. Its just a vibration type shudder that I can feel and hear.

you might be having the clutches in the rear end making noise, if true some additive might cure it.

Never thought abought that. I am past due on changing the oil in the rear end so maybee that is where I should start. I dont think these AAM axles take any adative though.

The rear end doesn't have clutches. It's all gears like a Torsion or Detroit TruTrac.

A low speed shudder under a load could be the trans, drive shaft, or differential (even gears fail).

I had what sounds like a similar problem with my 05 Auto a while back (at about 35K). It would feel like it was slipping. This happened when it was a low speed going up a hill (like a parking structure). It happened around 1200 rpm in first gear.
Anyway, I told the dealer about it an it was some type of a sensor. It was under warranty - but it cost me $100 due to the part not being covered...er something like that.
Sorry, but I'm speaking from memory from a couple years back. If you're curious I can pull the record and see exactly what it was. This is assuming that I can remember to do it and can find it.
Good luck.

I am having the same issue, but I also get it when I am pulling and I hit a grade and while it is trying to hold a slight grade.

I experienced that with my old 03 while towing. It did not do it when unloaded. It was my torque converter going bad. A new DTT unit solved that issue.....

Mine turned out to be a bad TC and 2nd gear band. I just had it rebuilt and upgraded.

Sounds like the rearend to me, change oil and use good quality synthetic. I use Royal Purple 75-140. The 11.50 AAM doesn't require or need additive.
