My Past Problems
My Past Problems
Well after what happened to me in my 06 truck I cant let it go. Chrysler and the Dealership screwing me so bad. I have tried every way I can think of to get them but with no luck. No attorney will take the case because they say it will take forever. I had to trade for another Dodge which I am pretty happy with. My new dealership was very nice to me and was sorry for how I was treated. I am going to keep this truck unless its a piece of crap like my other one was. After Chrysler wouldn't even look into the matter and believed everything those SOBs told them from the dealership. I will never buy a Chrysler product again. I hope no one on here gets cheated as bad as I did. Thanks for all of your help on here
Man, I feel your pain. I have been treated like a scumbag by every dealer I've gone to but one. I have been called a liar and accused of modding my truck (back when I hadn't done any fueling mods!). It amazes me how well they treat you when you buy the truck until your truck needs warantee work. If I worked as a Service Manager, I honestly could not sleep at night if I knew I was screwing folks over every day.
I've had alot of issues also with mine. I got burned pretty bad. Tried to Lemon Law but it has to be 3 times for the same exact thing. I've had different issues. DC's customer service is horrible across the board. I've been to different dealers from the west coast to east coast, I'm a Marine so I travel alot. Just about every dealership I've been to across country has burned me. I am in the process of looking for a new truck, before my warranty runs out. I want to get another Dodge Cummins, but in the back of my head, I start thinking of how I was treated and the what if's, I have problems again.

I was not very happy with my Dodge dealer either BUT my 78 year old Dad has gotten totally edited by admin by the Chevy dealer in CA. Tried to talk him into going with a Dodge truck but he traded in the 05 diesel lemon that they had sold him and bought an 07 that has already cost him a lot of money in repairs. Guess what Im saying is that some of our Dodge dealers may be worthless but its not just Dodge.

The problem goes far deeper then the dealers , it starts at Chrysler and when it starts there it real does not matter if you got a good dealer in a lot of cases . I have been waiting 3 weeks for a turbo now , well my truck sets at the dealer and Chrysler has them on back order . Chrysler shipped it last week by the slowest method they could find and I wait another week . This will be my last Dodge unless they make big changes , they have lost touch with there customers and I have lost faith with them .

No, it's not what people want to hear. I don't like being lied too when it comes to having service work done. A dealer that I use - the most honest in the area - still has some crooks working for him. A dealership mechanic doing warranty work told me I needed my valves adjusted at 100,000 miles and he could do it for $380 to $420.
The Southern Plains Cummins in OKC did it for $150 at 150K like Cummins recommends.
Some dealers will rip you a new one if you let them. Others DO IT on every repair.
I've seen more dishonest dealers than honest ones by a long shot.
What really turned my opinion about dealers was a dealership telling me I needed new front brakes on a 96 Dodge truck with less than 30K on it at a cost of $300+.. I asked how bad the pads were, the service writer told me it was metal to metal. I told him to go ahead and replace them, then drove up there immediately to see them.
The truck was parked where I had left it in the dealer's lot. They hadn't even removed the tires.
When I went into the service department, the service writers and some mechanics immediately left for their second lunch of the day. If I had got hold of them, they would have been bleeding from their ears or other parts of their bodies if they had mouthed back.
The general manager was warned and he disappeared before I got to his office.
I went to the owner's office at another site, waited for an hour or so to see him. When I told him what thieves he had working for him, he did the right thing. He fired almost the entire service crew except for the lube techs and front end mechanic.
How many people do you think got ripped off by these jerks before they were fired?
How about people barely able to make their car payments much less pay for unnecessary repairs?
How about a dealer charging $99.95 for an oil change? He justifies the expense because he checks fluid levels, checks tire pressure, checks the wiper blades, and suggests the warranty on the car will not be valid unless he does the oil change?
I'm not saying that all dealer are thieves, but many of them are.
And I'm not going to be treated like an idiot by some fast talking, smoke blowing service writer trying to run up shop revenue. Unnecessary repair is THEFT!
Denial of a righteous warranty request is also THEFT.
You paid for the warranty when you bought the new vehicle.

Danc46, I couldn't agree more. It ia amazing some of the stuff I hear when I go in for service. I just play dumb and act like I don't have a clue about anything mechanical and just listen to the B.S. At least this way I can tell which people are trying to rip me off, or just don't know any better themselves, and then I can avoid them in the future.
At least I can tell the truth from the thievery, but I feel bad for the people that trust these places to take care of them, and get taken for a pile of money.
Just my .02 cents.

Remember that dealers make smaller profits (%) on selling vehicles than repairing them. So they have incentives to increase sales of 'service' activities. Warranty work is also paid for (by the manufacturer, not the owner) but at a lower rate. The mechanics get a lower amount of money paid to them for warranty work (this was told to me by an ex-dealer mechanic) so guess what they are going to do - - make EVERY repair look as if it is out of warranty!
Again, not all dealerships are the same but the issue starts MUCH higher up. My suggestion - find a good and honest MECHANIC and stick with them. I did this with my Honda as well as my Dodge and it has paid off in spades.
Well that is a weak excuse. Inventory is part of running a business. Maintaining inventory of parts that are not typical wear-out or failure items is bad business. Keeping inventory of parts that have higher likelihood of failure / replacement is good business.
