My first post: 48RE auto trans problems on 2004

My brother has a 2004 (maybe a 2004.5) Dodge 3500 Cummins turbo Diesel. Of course the engine is fine, but the auto trans is shot after 85K miles.

This truck has a very heavy pesticide sprayer rig on the back + it holds 2500 lbs of chemical. This truck is likely pushing about 12-13 thousand pounds every day its used.

I installed a mild power module kit and slightly increased the turbo boost via the included waste gate mod (can't remember which brand module). This modification helped in the power department, but the truck is no cheetah (due to its weight). The module had 4 levels of performance (4 being the biggest increase) and I set it on 2.

So after using the search function, I'm likely going to recommend either a DTT or Goerend trans.

Do you guys agree that this would be the best route for my brothers truck?

Also does anyone know what DTT charges for their core charge?

Thanks, Guys!

Thanks for the vote of confidence. At this point I'm leaning toward the Goerend.

The trans just needs to be able to last moving 13K pounds. The truck is not even driven that hard, its just heavy.

DTT makes a bad donkey trans. GB is my second pic. Had a DTT in my old 98.5 I sold and it never gave me any problems. Hammer it on a daily basis.
