My 06's wheels are rusting

Went to really clean up the truck this weekend and noticed all my wheels are rusting. Noticed it a bit the other week but figured it was just some stubborn brake dust, not the case, and it ain't comming off. Truck is a 06 with 7,000 miles, I don't think it should do this. I got the cheaper wheels that come on these, think the dealer should do anything for me?

He'll probably hand you a can of Nev-r-Dull and tell you to get to work.

If you think you have trouble at your local Dodge dealer. Try your local Chevy or Ford dealer. If you owned a Ford, You would probably be hatin life right now.(with all of the TSB's on the Fords) I can't imagine anybody that works in a Ford dealer being to happy with the way things are going on there 6.0.

Thumbs down

If your dealer is worth the air they breath, they should take care of that for you in the blink of an eye. You paid good money for your truck, if they've got to take a "hit", and it costs them a few hundred, oh well, its called the cost of doing business. I will not take my truck to my dealer for service, due to the fact that I paid sticker for a $34,000 truck (stupid, I know) and they had the nerve hand me the keys with 1/4 tank of fuel, and ask me if i could put the deposit on my credit card so he could get his commission check sooner.

Guess I have a really good dealer....
I used the employee discount, plus the 2.9% APR, and he put $50 worth of fuel in it!

D.C pays for FIRST tank of fuel. Its suppose to delivered with it full.Dealer won't take a HIT on the wheels if truly a problem.Nice BIG warranty ticket and easy money. They get a 40% markup on warranty parts and I bet it pays like 1.2 hours for install.Dealers DO make GOOD money on warranty and its their NUMBER 1 customer! Their NOT suppose to take a hit on warranty items.Their suppose to make a profit on EVERY warranty claim.Thats their business.

it's prolly rail dust, and can be fixed with an acid wash.

my tailgate is covered in it, did not know about it till after warranty was up.

was big deal on here in early 04, lots guys with lite colored trucks.

When I got mine used, they told me they'd put $69 of diesel in the tank for me. A few months later, I'd say they were lucky.

When I bought my 05 2500 the dealer said that DC dont fuel up the tanks anymore. I mean If you spend that kind of money looks like they could afford to top it off.

I notice your truck is an SLT. I don't really know about the '06s, but previous year model SLTs came with aluminum wheels. Are your aluminum? If so, how can they be rusting? Rust happens to steel, iron, etc, not aluminum. If they do have rust, it's from some other source, like someone mentioned, rail dust. If your wheels are steel, then IMO, warranty should take care of it.

Didnt you read where he opted to buy the cheaper steel wheels?? Aluminums are not standard on any year's SLT's...they are an OPTION...my old SLT had steels...This one has ally's

You are well within your warranty period. Take it to another dealer. Not all dealers are alike. The one down the street from me (5 star) sucks for sales but is outstanding when it comes for service. If all else fails call DC and complain, I wont go into how fast I got results when I did. Complaints about so called 5 star locations seem to light fires under people.

You don't know until you try. Take it to a different dealer and see what they say.

As for the fuel, D-C no longer pays to fuel the car and trucks. If you want to know why, ask the darn bean counters
