Well said Wexman! We are the customers. If the customer is not satisfied then they can b**** all they want!!!! That is exactly what makes manufactures improve their products. Lose of sales helps provoke improvements too!

I still believe the Cummins/Dodge package is the best right now. But I do despise problems on brand new products. Especially when it involves the engine and drivetrain. And we are talking about freeze plugs. How long have they been making freeze plugs for engines??? 60, 70, 80 years???? Freeze plugs are not exactly high tech. Having a typo in 10,000 lines of engine management code is one thing. But to have a pressed in freeze plug pop out cause you ran your engine to hard is another.

But thank goodness DC is trying to fix it! You gotta at least give them credit for that.

Hello again.

I strongly suggest that everyone that is intrested in this issue checkout TDR. There is some very intresting posts there. Some posts contain a build date range of trucks possibly affected with the problem. May help ease some people's minds.

Sounds like the TDR guys are just as peeved as the DTR folks!

Thank you. Actually found the site at the start of this post when I came on.
I think I would be with the other member in "Having to leave the room when they go to WOT".
Being a race engine builder, it has always made me cringe when I see or hear someone fire one up and either start revving it immediatly or head out onto the track and winding it up through the gears like everything is already warmed up.
Think I will do a close personal inspection for any trace of coolant (well......once it quits snowing here in the mtns.).

Is this issue something specific to the 600? I have a 555 with 550 miles and just wondering if I should check in with my dealer. Thanks for the info - wouldn't have ever known about this if not for the forum.

According to TDR the build range was mid jan to the end of march. Of course this is just rumors or one person's statement. I wouldn't be certain about the build dates until hearing offical word from DC. But if I am not mistaken it only applies to the infamous 600.

I was told today by a reliable source that all 600 engines built after March 15 have the corrected plugs. Some plugs had a tendency to spit or crack which caused some to leak or blow-out under start up pressure. I asked if that meant a recall for the rest of the 600's but the person did not know at this time.

OK, how do I find the build date of the ENGINE? I am waiting on delivery (insight says 5/14) and the VEHICLE was built 4/1. While that date is past 3/15, when is the engine built?

Now there are supposed problems with the 48RE,why can't they get this stuff right.

Dave, I missed the 48RE problem - can you direct me? I am trying to find out when DC, Cummings & Jacobs will have an exhaust brake for the 48RE Auto. The word is August after they have beefed up the 48RE.

Again, what problems have you "heard"

I don't think there is any way to find the engine build date before your truck arrives. If it makes you feel any better, I don't think the Saltillo keeps a huge inventory of engines. My truck rolled off the line on 3/25 and the engine was built 3/16.

I'm actually debating whether or not I'm going to drop it off tomorrow for testing. Just completed an almost 1000 mile round trip, where the truck was flogged, but good. I examined all freeze, plugs, etc. No weepage, nada. ZIP. Truck now has 2200 miles.

I just dropped off my truck. I asked the tech whether or not it was really necessary to do the test on a vehicle with 2200 miles. He said should be done anyway, so I left it. They will do it in the morning.

My courtesy vehicle is a........2001 Caravan! Don't let anyone see me in this!
