mopar +4 ?? Where to get it?

Can you get this stuff anyplace other than a dealer? I've looked all over for a qt. of +4 to top off the trans but can't find it in any of the local parts stores. Seems like the +4 requirement would be in violation of the Magnuson-Moss act if it's not readily available from 3rd party source. I;m sure that and about $10 will get me a qt of trans fluid from the dealer...

You need to go to the dealer, I just paid about $4.25 a qt., not bad.

Valvoline recommends their Max Life ATF for +4 applications. It's listed on the MSDS sheet. It cost me $1.88 a quart at Wally World.

I have seen it on ebay for a LITTLE less than the local dealer.
might be worth it if you were going to buy a couple cases.

Thanks for the input. Will probably run by a dealer and get a few qts. for the moment. Next change may see max-life though... Read the max-life info on valvolines web-site.

I wouldn't feel married to ATF+4.

I WOULD highly recommend the Lube-Gard additive for "highly friction modified ATFs", which ATF +4 is. The additive converts any Dexron 3 ATF to +4 specs.

I can't say enough good about the lube-gard, and I know that Bill K (of DTT) speaks very highly of it.

I wonder if DC would agree that fluids rated other than ATF +4 meet their warranty requirements?

I need to do a change on my '04 & been looking myself. My local indy parts store told me he can't get the +4, nor can he even get the trans filter.

From what I've read, it takes about two gallons to do a "easy" type fluid change. At two bucks a quart price difference, why take a chance? After all, $16 isn't that much money.

chasd60, what did the Amsoil fluid cost per quart?

mcmopar, you said it's out there... what brand & what store?

the guy at Carquest showed me a list of Valve o line oils and what requirements each oil filled. I also got the Max-life, gonna be doing a tranny flush here soon, if it ever quits raining!

I paid $16.50 a gallon for ATF+4 at the dealership last time. I can't complain about that. ATF+3 took a long time to hit the shelves too. Hopefully, DC will turn loose of ATF+4 rights soon. It's not legal what they're doing and I understand other manufacturers are contesting their hold on ATF+4 in court.
