Thumbs up Mobil Delvac MX 15W-40

Anyone using this oil? It is a CI-4 Plus oil which, is just what are 5.9's need. According to Mobil they are still making it. If any of you are using it, where are you buying it from?

225K on mine on Delvac. The main reason I use it is the jug it comes in. Biggest hole in the business! It makes pouring in the new and hauling off the old stuff easy. Still not using any measurable amount between 7500 mi. changes. I adjusted my valves recently and the engine looks like new under the valve cover. Walmart $10 a gallon.

I believe the OP is referring to the Delvac 15W40 which is still CI4+ rated...I'm not sure if/where it can be found.
I contacted Valvoline about their Classic oil and was told it is no longer made, as the CJ4 VPB is "superior". They told me the info came from Cummins...Maybe the companies are discontinuing their production of CI4 rated oils.
FWIW.

I would say anything that still has a CI rating is the way to go.Its getting harder to find at the automotive stores. Most of your lacal tractor dealers still have it in stock.I've been running the John Deere +50 for 6 months now and plan on sticking with it till its no longer available.

When that new Amsoil CJ4 reformulation for the DEO (5W40) came out, there was a question in there about whether Amsoil was doing to continue making the AME 15W40 (CI4+). It said that when there "is no longer a demand" for the AME they will stop.
Well, AME is one of their biggest sellers, so I guess Amsoil is always an option...

That is correct. Mobil makes several varieties of Delvac and the one I am referring to is the MX variety that is a CI-4 Plus oil. I called Mobil the day I posted this and they still produce it and will continue to. Now just trying to get my hands on some.

Mobile Delvac CI-4+ is not as good as some of the better CI-4+ oils. Delo 400,Guardall QLT and Fina Gold Cappa have a TBN of 12. But I would use it before using any CJ oil.
