I used to get the Mobil 1 trk/suv oil at Walmart...Cheap price for the 5 qt. jug...But now I have been to at least 10 Walmarts in Cal. Az., and no more stock. ? One manager says there not getting it anymore and he don't know why. Anybody know whats the deal ?

I don't know, I noticed the Wal-Mart where I buy mine was really low, and said they hadn't got any in a while.

A guess is that Exxon-Mobil didn't agree to some of Walmart's demands for cost cutting, but it could also be that Exxon-Mobil needed a price increase if they were caught with thin margins and increased cost of base stock. I too have noticed that it's not availale at some of the local Walmarts.

I heard the reason was hurricane induced. Mobil had to change the certification on some of their oils because of lack of additives. You should see it back on the shelves at Wally in the near future.

I, also, heard that the hurricane damaged the plant that produces the Mobil 1 Truck & SUV, oil. Walmart seems to have other weights of Mobil 1, though. They may be manufactured in other plants.

What was the problem with inadequate additive packages?

I was in the back room of an Advance Auto Parts today scoffing up on some $5/gallon Castrol Tection diesel. There's also a $6/case rebate from Castrol so three gallons end up costing $9.
Back to the point There was an entire pallet of Mobil 1 Truck & SUV 5W-40 in the back room. Makes me think it is either going on sale soon (no one knew) or at least if Wally doesn't have it shortly maybe they might not be carrying it. I can't see that happening as they don't stock a suitable substitute at this time, the only group IV they carried as far as I know.

i bought three 5qt jugs of mobil 1 5w-40 three weeks ago at my local walmart. it was the last three on shelf. i went there today to look- the whole mobil 1 oil section was completely wiped out!! there was only 10w-30 in the 5qt jugs. every other weight oil was empty. the quarts were pretty wiped out too. talked to a walmart employee. he said they were having a hard time getting the oil

I bought all five 5qt jug of T&SUV that they had on the shelves when I saw it there.

$22/5qts. That's a screaming deal for an oil of that quality, imo.
