I know I have seen it but now can't find the numbers related to max RPM's under different conditions... like under load, no load and on compression.

 

i've had mine up to 3800rpm downshifting, and to about 3500rpm upshifting... in neutral the engine will go to about 3500, then back down to 3200 and sit there where the ecm holds it... when the ecm fueling, it can not overspeed... downshifting you can overspeed it, but as long as you don't really go past 4k, you should be ok...
