Magnet in aluminum tranny pan

I replaced my stock tranny pan with an Aluminum pan about 40,000 miles ago. I was cleaning up the garage and just saw my old steel pan laying around and was going to pitch it. I just noticed the magnet in the bottom of the stock pan! Obviously it's not IN my new pan... I didn't move it. Then I got to thinking that it would not stick to the aluminum and could end up sticking to something else that might cause trouble?

I have a magnetic drain plug... if that's enough?

Here's my question - should I drop the pan and put the magnet in?
Could the magnet cause troubles in the pan since it will float around and not stick to the bottom of the pan?

As long as you have a magnetic drain plug you should be O.K. It's not the same surface area of a magnet but better than nothing.

You could JB weld it in place. I did that on my Rock crawler when I removed the drain plug on the front and rear end housings. Did it quite a few years ago and they are still there.

guess I'll pull the plug and do the ATF this weekend - if it's got some metallic dust I'll leave it. If not - I like the JBWeld idea!
