Mag Hytech

Hello! I have a 05 3500 ST 5.9 4x4. I am looking into buying all 3 Mag Hytech covers. I know I have a 48RE tranny but don't have a clue on my diffs. Probably a stupid question as most of you guys sure know your Dodge's. Hopefully I'll get there one day. Can someone please let me know what I have stock on the front and rear diffs? I've done nothing to this truck except baby it and change fluid and filters. Slowly going to do some upgrading and the covers seemed like a good place to start. Thanks in advance!

Exactly.

I have a MH rear, and the front is in the garage waiting on my next fluid change.

They are great covers. 8qts rear and 4qts front!

Mag-Hytec 9.25 AAM cover

I don't know about 05 4X4 but the 03 4X4 had some clearance issues with the MH front differential cover. I ended up changing to a PML front differential cover as the track bar caused clearance problems with the MH. Having said that the covers are well built with easy drain and fill ports. I like the dipstick setup they use on the diff covers. Running a six shooter so I cannot comment on the tranny pan but I suspect it is top notch also.

IIRC there were some early steering issues, but they have been resolved. If you have the 08+ steering mod it may take some machinig/grinding, but odly enough each truck is different.

I have the rear diff cover 8 quarts, and the double deep auto trany pan, full flush about 21 quarts, give or take a bit, depends how much he flushes out. they seem to work just fine.

I have the DD Mag tranny pan and the rear diff cover - really like them. Especially the rear diff cover. Super easy to drain and refill with the magnetic dip stick, too. I was not comfortable with the front cover so I sent it back. I got a PML front cover. Not as fancy as the Mag but still has a drain plug and refill plug. The Mag rubbed on the track bar. Perhaps Mag has resolved that??? pcm

I have both diff covers and have no problems with any interference, my track bar is a stock bar. It is great not having to pull the covers to drain the diffs.

Amen to that. Both covers went on without issue. Been there for 50k miles. Look great, run cool. And so easy to check fluid with the built in dip-sticks.

I recently purchased the read diff and trans DD from Genos. The're great.
I was also going to get the front but they cautioned me that I would likely need suspension adjustments if you ever do the mopar upgrade for DW.

The front has to have a slight amount trimmed off of the right hand side of the fins... IF you have the steering update done.

Thats what I have heard. I don't think its a big enough deal to not get a MH over.

I was thinking about going with Mag-Hytec the the rear and PLM for the front. Is the extra lube for the rear important for someone that has keeps a 1994 Nothern Lite camper on the truck 24-7 and tows a 20-22 foot salt water boat now and then or would the PLM rear be just fine?
