Mag-Hytec Double Deep Trans Pan

I have a 2006 2500 Mega 4x4 with auto transmission. I have a Mag Hytec Double Deep Transmission pan sitting in my garage waiting to put it on. How much ATF do I need to put back in. This wil be the first fluid change so I am not sure how much the stock pan holds. I understand that the DD Pan holds another 4 qrts extra. Also I think I read that to check the fluid level, you start engine and put it in nuetral.....is that correct.

I can't help, I have the BD deep pan, it only holds 3 qts extra. You do need to warm the tranny fluid and check on LEVEL ground in N.

I'm glad you posted this question!! I JUST installed my Mag-Hytec DD trans pan on my 06 Mega. The directions say it hold 9 quarts. I put in 9 quarts, and it BARELY reads on the dipstick, after driving it for about 10 minutes. The trans temp is reading 175 degrees. When I emptied the drain pan into old gallon oil bottles, it measured at almost 7 quarts (This was how much was drained from the stock pan). How much will these things REALLY hold?

Mine held approximately 9 quarts to just drain and refill the MH DD Pan. I would just buy more than you need and start checking it after about 8 quarts or so....and keep adding until full. Probably want to check it on level ground with the gear selector in neutral.

After driving it around a while longer, I put in another 1 1/2 quarts to get it in between the min & max on the dipstick. That's a total of 10 1/2 quarts.

It took me a while to get mine adjusted. I have the deep sump Mag Hytec and think I used around 10 quarts. I did check mine with level ground, hot, and in neutral. Great Pan!! Expensive, but I feel worth it. High quality.

Mine took 11 to fill her back up!!! I can't get my tranny over 175 degrees... Love these pans.. I haulsed 13K on the gooseneck the other day in hilly terrain and she wouldn't hit 170 at all...

i'm about to install one on mine. Question is, what about the filter? Is there a spacer or something that's included for it?

Thanks for all the replies..I hope to get a chance to put it on tomorrow. To answer the previous question..I ordered mine from Geno's and it came with a new gasket, new filter and the spacer to put filter lower in the pan.

Yes, the pan should come with a spacer.

Be sure, after filling the auto transmission, with the engine running, to run shift lever through all gears up and down a few times stopping in each gear for a few seconds, then check fluid level in neutral, on level ground. Also check again after driving.
