Lucas Fuel treatment

Any one running Lucas in cold weather situations? I am in Up-State NY Rochester actually where it was about 20 deg F today. I went to add some Lucas while fueling up and noticed that it was running slow as hell and looked gelled! Has any one else noticed this? I have been running Howes and have not had any problems. This is my 3rd tank with Lucas and have noticed an 1 MPG drop. Please let me know what ya think.

John,
Could it be the cold weather and the winterized fuel mix causing your drop?
You said it seemed gelled.... you mean the Lucas?
I'm not sure; but, I think we should all be fine down to close to 0F. I was just running mine in 7 - 9F with no winter additives. I was running a light mix of summer Power Service and MMO.
I just barely started trying Lucas, but quit for the winter (fearing cold weather). I only ran it two tanks. It seemed like the engine liked it though.
I'm running an extra fuel filter back by the tank, so I have been a little subconscious about gelling. Don't know for sure if it will gell there. It does gell in the filter and this one is back there without any heat or protection.....
Maybe I will change that some day.

Gelled Lucas

Dan (Millco),
I ran Lucas in the summer and had no problems but I have to go out of my way to pick it up (Howes is sold at my fueling station). I just happend to be at the parts store to buy parts for the girlfirends car and picked some Lucas up. I have had not problems with cold starts up untill I started to add the Lucas. I have ran 3 tanks of Lucas and all three are lower then my average by about 1MPG. The Lucas was gelling so I am going to stop using it for the winter. I am going to switch back to the Howes and see if I get that 1 MPG back.

I have been running 8 ounces per every tank for 19,000 miles (2 winters). I have not had any cold start problems, and noticed an improvement in in milage in the summer, but blended fuel in the winter is a little worse.

cold weather

Lucas cold weather IMO is the best protection you can get. I have found no other product spec to take # 2 diesel down to -20 per recomended dose.

Lucas cold weather fuel treatment works. Truck seems to like it, I've tested it down to -18F without any issues. Truck started right up even with a slower then usual starter crank speed.

Lucas Cold Weather?

All I am not running Lucas Cold Weather I have never heard of it. I am talking about the regular Lucas fuel treatment. If they have a cold weather formula that could explain my issues with the regular Lucas. Where do you get the Lucas Cold weather?
