How many miles with NO fuel treatment in 24 Valve CTD?

Cummins does not recommend any fuel treatment for our CTD's. I know most members use it. I was just wondering if any members have not used it and if they have had any problems? Also if you have not used it how many trouble free miles on your truck?

Haven't ever used fuel treatment in my CTD...but I always try to buy fuel from a high volume truck stop...I have used anti-gels in very cold weather...I have used Power Service for the fleet of Tractors we maintained but that was by Company Directive to add it every fuel dump we got from Nov to April

Any one ever heard of using a little power steering fluid or auto tranny fluid as an additive for enhancing the lubrication of the pump. It is cheaper but cost aside, is it safe. I have a few CTD owner freinds that swear by it.

Don't put this stuff in a current diesel engine it will ruin the fuel system.

60,000 without any fuel treatment of any kind. Until last week. I put in some anti gel. Thought my fuel was gelling at -4* and turned out not to be that at all. Lift pump was going out. My truck was number 3 for my dealer to replace lift pump that week.

My dad drove my truck 140k miles without any type of treatment at all before i could pry the keys from his hand. However the LP & injector pump were replaced around 110k miles. I now use power service to make me feel better.

He wasn't in too good of a mood for the rest of the week.
